Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, has generated considerable interest within the crypto ecosystem following his disclosure regarding Ethereum’s current efforts to develop a more sophisticated network. Buterin has expressed belief that Ethereum is on the brink of a new phase, characterised by several significant upgrades that have the potential to transform its operational framework in the years ahead. As the network progresses and enhances its infrastructure, Vitalik confirmed that Ethereum is steadily evolving into a hybrid system that integrates blockchain technology with contemporary cryptography.
While he noted that Ethereum is progressing beyond merely a blockchain, Buterin stated that Ethereum is evolving into a “cryptographic world computer” in the future. With its potential upgrades, Ethereum is positioned to effectively support more advanced applications while enhancing security, privacy, and efficiency. These significant advancements are projected to commence on Ethereum following the highly anticipated Hegota upgrade, as numerous proposals are already integrated into Ethereum’s long-term roadmap.
Buterin further specified some of the major upgrades forthcoming on the Ethereum blockchain, noting that FOCIL, EIP-8288, Lean consensus, improved state management, and formal verification will soon launch on the network. With the FOCIL upgrade, the complexity for block builders to censor transactions is set to increase. This aims to ensure that users can access the network without excessive reliance on individual participants. Additional enhancements will contribute to strengthening its network security on the blockchain, facilitating Ethereum’s consensus on transactions.
